Smiljka De Lussigny

Programme Manager at Unitaid

Smiljka de Lussigny is a seasoned public health professional with extensive experience in managing large-scale health programs, particularly in the context of HIV/AIDS and cancer diagnostics. Currently serving as Programme Manager for Diagnostics and cervical cancer at Unitaid since July 2013, Smiljka oversees a portfolio of multi-year grants exceeding US$ 250 million, focusing on point-of-care technologies in Africa. Previously, Smiljka held the position of Technical and Advocacy Officer at the World Health Organization Regional Office for Europe, where responsibilities included HIV prevention and treatment advocacy and collaboration with civil society. As Executive Director a.i. of the European AIDS Treatment Group, Smiljka led the organization in strategic planning, policy advocacy, and project management. Early career contributions included project coordination at the Yugoslav Youth Information Center, emphasizing sexual and reproductive health for vulnerable youth. Smiljka holds a Master's in Public Health from Lund University and a Master's in Pharmacy from First Moscow State Medical University.
