Jeff Milchen

Jeff Milchen is an experienced advocate for democratic practices and local economies. Currently serving in Justice Communications at the Unitarian Universalist Association since November 2021, Milchen previously co-directed the American Independent Business Alliance from February 2001 to November 2019. As the founder and first Executive Director of Reclaim Democracy from 1999 to 2006, Milchen led efforts to strengthen representative democracy and mitigate the influence of money in politics. Milchen also co-founded and served as Executive Director of the Boulder Independent Business Alliance from October 1997 to May 2001, facilitating collaboration among local businesses and residents in Boulder, Colorado. This organizing model has since inspired over 100 similar initiatives across the country. Early in Milchen's career, instructing outdoor wilderness courses with Outward Bound from 1992 to 1994 provided foundational leadership experience. Milchen earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Vermont.
