Eric Abelquist has extensive work experience in the field of nuclear safety, engineering, and technology. Eric currently serves as the Chief Technology Officer and Technical, Engineering & Nuclear Safety (TENS) Manager at UCOR since November 2020. Prior to this, Eric worked at ORAU for a significant part of their career, starting in 1993. During their tenure at ORAU, they held various leadership positions such as EVP, VP and Director, Independent Environmental Assessment and Verification, Associate Director, and Project Leader. In these roles, they demonstrated expertise in strategic planning, program direction, and team management in the areas of independent environmental assessment, cleanup verification, radiation sciences training, and health physics projects. Eric also played a key role in enhancing ORAU's radiological survey program and developing a pipeline of health physics professionals through mentoring and internships. Additionally, they worked as a Deputy Director at Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education from 2009 to 2015, where they managed the ORISE program and a portfolio of projects for multiple federal agencies. Earlier in their career, Eric worked at Nuclear Energy Services as a Project Manager and at the US Department of Energy Pinellas Plant as a Health Physicist.

Eric Abelquist has an extensive education history. In 1983, they started their undergraduate studies at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, majoring in Radiation Sciences. Eric continued their education at the same institution and obtained a Master of Science degree, also in Radiation Sciences, in 1991.

In 2005, Eric began their doctoral studies at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Eric pursued a degree in Nuclear Engineering and successfully completed their PhD in 2008.

After completing their PhD, Eric further enhanced their education by pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Eric attended the program from 2013 to 2014.

In addition to their academic degrees, Eric Abelquist holds a certification as a Certified Health Physicist (CHP) from the American Academy of Health Physics. The specific timeline for obtaining this certification is not provided.
