Phil Smith

Phil Smith has extensive experience in governmental affairs and communications, currently serving as Executive Assistant to the President/Chief of Staff at the United Mine Workers of America since January 2005, where previous roles included Director of Governmental Affairs and Director of Communications. Prior to this, Phil held positions such as Managing Director at Touchstone Marketing/Communications and Principal at Fingerhut, Powers, Smith and Associates. Phil's early career included serving as Chief of Staff for Texas Representative David Hudson and working as an Oil and Gas Proration Analyst for the Texas Railroad Commission. Phil Smith holds a Master's degree in Public Affairs from The LBJ School of Public Affairs and a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Point Park University, along with education from West Virginia University.
