Joan Birika is currently Senior Manager of Human Rights at the United Nations Global Compact. Previously, Joan was a Co-Founder at the Center for Missing Children in Kenya, where Joan focused on child security and safety. Joan also worked as a Program Coordinator for Gender Democracy and Women's Rights at the Heinrich Boell Foundation, and as a Legal Officer at the African Network for Protection and Prevention Against Child Abuse and Neglect in Kenya. Additionally, Joan has experience in aviation security, investigations, and customer relations at Kenya Airways. Joan holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nairobi, a Master's in Liberal Arts in International Relations from Harvard University, and a Graduate Certificate in Social Justice from Harvard Extension School.
