Human Rights Officer at United Nations Human Rights

David Lochhead is a seasoned professional in human rights and security sector reform, currently serving as a Human Rights Officer at the United Nations Human Rights since February 2023. Concurrently, David has been a Senior Researcher at the Small Arms Survey since January 2019. Previously, from July 2013 to May 2018, David held the position of Senior SSR Officer and Deputy Coordinator of the SSR Section at UN MINUSMA, focusing on border security and counter-proliferation programs. Prior experience includes serving as Deputy Coordinator of the Security Sector Reform Section and Coordinator of the Regional Joint Operations Center for UNMISS in South Sudan from October 2010 to July 2013, and as Executive Director of Kobowen Transport Inc. from September 2009 to October 2010. David began a career at UNDP in South Sudan as the Coordinator of the community, security, and arms control project from July 2004 to August 2009. David earned a Bachelor's degree in International Relations and Affairs from McGill University and a Master of Arts in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution from Royal Roads University.
