Hernan Vales

Hernan Vales has extensive experience in human rights and legal affairs, currently serving as Chief, Human Rights and Democracy Adviser, and Human Rights Officer at the United Nations Human Rights since September 2007. Prior roles include Political Affairs Officer and Legal Officer with the United Nations from July 2003 to September 2007, and Assistant Professor at the University of Buenos Aires from March 2001 to June 2003. Hernan's legal expertise was further developed through positions as Legal Counsel at Providian Financial Corporation and as a law intern at Marval, O'Farrell & Mairal. Early career experience includes serving as a Public Relations Officer at BASF. Hernan holds a Master of Laws (LLM) from the University of London International Programmes and has studied International Law at Columbia Law School, along with a law degree from the University of Buenos Aires.
