Human Rights Officer at United Nations Human Rights

Marlene Urscheler is a seasoned human rights professional with extensive experience in various capacities within the field. Since June 2011, Marlene has served as a Human Rights Officer at the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). Prior to this role, Marlene worked as a Project Officer for Nepal at the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF) from April 2009 to May 2011, and previously held a Human Rights Officer position at OHCHR from January 2006 to June 2008. Marlene's career also includes serving as Deputy Head of the International Humanitarian Law Coordination Office at the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs from July 2003 to October 2004, and as an Associate Expert at DCAF from October 2001 to July 2003. Academic qualifications include an LLM in International Human Rights Law from the University of Essex (2004-2005) and a licentiate in International Relations from the University of Geneva (1998-2001).
