Paola Onofa is a Human Rights Advisor to the UN Resident Coordinator and the United Nations Country Team at the United Nations Human Rights since September 2018. Previously, Paola held positions as an Official of Protection at UNICEF from April 2017 to August 2018 and served as a Human Rights Advisor for the Universal Periodic Review at the United Nations Human Rights from August 2012 to April 2017. Additional roles included providing legal analysis and research during a professional internship at the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in early 2012 and coordinating assistance for victims of human trafficking at the IOM - UN Migration Agency from March 2008 to December 2009. Paola's early career included serving as the Director General of Human Rights at the Ecuadorian Ministry of Foreign Affairs from September 2004 to March 2008, following a competitive selection process, and working as an English Teacher at Benedict School of Languages from October 1999 to February 2003. Paola holds an LL.M in International Human Rights Law from Lund University and a degree in law with an international focus from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador.
