Pierre Alexandre De Looz

Pierre Alexandre de Looz is an educator, writer, and architect. Prior to starting an independent design practice, Mr. de Looz was project lead at various local firms following apprenticeships with Robert AM Stern, New York, and Zaha Hadid Architects, London. He currently focuses on small-scale residential renovation.

Mr. de Looz teaches in the Master’s program in Design Research, Writing, and Criticism at SVA and is visiting Professor in Humanities and Media Studies at Pratt Institute with multidisciplinary appointments in Architecture and Industrial Design. As a writer, Mr. de Looz has reported on art and design for a wide range of publications such as The New York Times and V Magazine. He is contributing editor at Berlin-based 032c Magazine and in 2006 co-founded semiannual architecture magazine PIN-UP, where he continues as editor-at-large.

Born in France and raised in New York, Mr. de Looz is a 1993 IB diploma graduate of the United Nations International School. He received his B.A. in Comparative Literature from Yale University and a Master’s in Architecture from Columbia University. He works and lives in Fort Greene, Brooklyn.
