Ian Thorpe is a seasoned language professional with extensive experience in interpretation, translation, and editing for prestigious organizations, including the United Nations. Currently serving as a Staff Interpreter at the United Nations Office at Nairobi since January 2017, Thorpe has played a pivotal role in remote interpreting initiatives during the COVID-19 pandemic and contributes as the focal point for occupational health and safety. Prior to this, Thorpe worked as a freelance interpreter and translator from April 2012 to January 2017, with assignments for various UN bodies in Geneva. Additional roles include teaching assistant for English booth interpreters at Universidad de La Laguna, translator and project manager at Praetorius Global SAS, and international students ambassador at the University of York.
