Mathieu Verougstraete is currently the Head of Infrastructure and Finance for the Resilience Unit at the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction. With previous experience at the United Nations in ESG and sustainable finance, as well as in infrastructure finance at UN ESCAP, Mathieu has a strong background in developing sustainable financing strategies and advising governments on promoting sustainable investments. Prior to their work at the UN, Mathieu also gained experience in blended finance at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and in economic analysis and client management at ING. With a Master's degree in Business Administration, Mathieu also has experience in teaching economic policy at the university level.
