Gabriela Alvarez Minte serves as the Regional Gender Advisor for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) since January 2021. Prior experience includes roles at Oxfam International as Program Development Specialist focusing on gender justice, at UNDP as Programme Manager for the violence against women portfolio, and as a Senior Consultant for both UNICEF and UN Women. Gabriela has also contributed as an Associate Tutor at Birkbeck, University of London, across multiple courses related to development, and has provided significant support in the areas of violence prevention and gender equality through various consultancy positions. Gabriela holds a PhD in Development from Birkbeck, a Master’s in Sociology from the University of Oxford, and degrees in Social Anthropology from Universidad de Chile.
