Mohamed YAHYA currently serves as the Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for the United Nations since January 2024, following a distinguished tenure at UNDP from June 2011 to January 2024 as Resident Representative, where management of one of UNDP's largest offices in Africa and leadership in Covid-19 response efforts were prominent achievements. YAHYA has extensive experience coordinating regional programs, including the largest Regional Programme covering 46 sub-Saharan African countries, providing strategic support to the African Union and its regional bodies. Previous roles include the Coordinator for an inter-agency initiative on natural resource management at the United Nations and managing a parliamentary support project in Afghanistan. Early career contributions focused on conflict-resolution initiatives in Liberia and Sao Tome and Principe, underscoring YAHYA's expertise in governance and development. YAHYA holds an MSc in Violence, Conflict, and Development from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London.
