Brooke Ellison has a diverse work experience, starting with their current role as the VP for Tech Access with the United Spinal Association since 2023. In 2020, they founded and became the President and Founder of Brooke Ellison Leadership and Inclusion Strategies, LLC, which focuses on optimizing the inclusion of people with disabilities through speeches, workshops, and consultation. Brooke also holds the position of Associate Professor at both the Stony Brook University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine, starting in 2018, and Stony Brook University, starting in 2013. Additionally, they served as the Director of Education and Ethics at the Stony Brook University Stem Cell Facility from 2012 to 2020. Prior to these roles, Brooke Ellison was an Assistant Research Professor at the Stony Brook University Medical Center from 2011 to 2018. Brooke also owned The Brooke Ellison Project from 2007 to 2010.
Brooke Ellison began their education at Harvard University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Cognitive Science from 1996 to 2000. Brooke further pursued their academic journey by attending the Harvard Kennedy School from 2002 to 2004, where they obtained a Masters degree in Public Policy. Finally, they pursued their passion for Sociology and achieved a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Sociology from Stony Brook University, where they studied from 2009 to 2012.

United Spinal Association is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit membership organization formed in 1946 by paralyzed veterans who pioneered the disability rights movement. The core belief of United Spinal is that, despite living with a disability or mobility impairment, a full, pro-active, and rewarding life is not only possible, it is within thereach of anyone with the strength to believe it and the courage to make it happen. For over 60 years, we have been an active voice in the disability community and a leading provider of outstanding programs and services for individuals with disabilities. United Spinal Association's mission is to improve the quality of life of all Americans living with spinal cord injuries and disorders (SCI/D), including multiple sclerosis, spina bifida, Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS), and post polio. United Spinal Association’s Leaders are dedicated to advancing the organization’s principles and goals and to achieving the highest level of service to the spinal cord injury community.
