Hesham Youssef currently serves as a Senior Fellow at the United States Institute of Peace since July 2019. Prior to this role, Youssef had a distinguished career in diplomacy, serving as a Retired Ambassador at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Egypt from December 1985 to July 2019. Youssef held various significant positions, including Assistant Secretary General at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation from July 2014 to June 2019 and Senior Advisor, Chief Of Staff, and Official Spokesman at the League of Arab States from May 2001 to June 2014. Additionally, Youssef worked as a Counsellor at the Egyptian Mission to the United Nations from July 1995 to July 1999. Youssef's educational background includes a Master's degree in Economics from The American University in Cairo, a Master's degree in Philosophy from St. John's College, and a BSc in Science-Physics from Cairo University.
