Frank Thorp started their career in 1998 as a Fellow at Hill & Knowlton. Frank then joined the US Navy and served as a Special Assistant to the Chief of Naval Operations from 2000 to 2003. Frank also worked at the US Central Command as the Director of Media Operations in 2003. Frank then moved to the Department of Defense and held the roles of Special Assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (Public Affairs) from 2003 to 2007. Frank served as the Chief of Information for the United States Navy from 2007 to 2009. Frank then joined AM General as the Vice President of Communications & Government Operations from 2009 to 2010. Frank later became the Senior Vice President of Marketing & Communication at USO from 2010 to 2013. Frank then started their own company, Frank Thorp & Associates, where they worked as a Principal from 2013 to 2015. Frank then became the President of Quattro Communications Inc in 2015. Currently, Frank serves as the President & CEO of The United States Navy Memorial, a position they have held since 2016.
Frank Thorp attended the United States Naval Academy from 1977 to 1981, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Operations Analysis. Frank then pursued a Master of Arts degree in Public Affairs & Broadcast Journalism from American University, which they completed from 1991 to 1992. Later, from 1995 to 1996, they attended the U.S. Naval War College, where they obtained a Master of Science degree in National Security & Strategic Studies.

The United States Navy Memorial, located on America’s main street at 701 Pennsylvania Ave, NW, between the White House and the Capitol Building, is quickly becoming one of Washington’s premier destination locations with more than 110,000 visitors each year. It boasts a 230-person state-of-the-art theater frequently booked for Hollywood movie screenings and a 3,500 square-foot interactive exhibit space that immerses visitors in the rich heritage and culture of the Sea Services, making it a first-class venue for Navy ceremonies and private events. Outside the Visitors Center is a large plaza with a granite map of the world that serves as the stage for wreath laying ceremonies, Navy Band concerts, and outdoor film festivals, all featuring an unparalleled backdrop of the National Archives. Overlooking Memorial plaza is the original Lone Sailor statue, which has become an iconic, nationally renowned representation of American sailors, surrounded by fountains with water from the seven seas. The Navy Memorial’s mission is to Honor, Recognize and Celebrate the men and women of the Sea Services, past, present and future; and to inform the public about their service.
