Justin Mayfield

Justin Mayfield has a diverse work experience. Justin started their career in 2012 as a Reserve Officer's Training Corps (ROTC) Cadet Vice Wing Commander. In this role, they led a cadet wing and oversaw leadership training and community service for a 150+ cadet wing.

In 2015, Justin worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Virginia Department of Transportation. Justin collaborated with Dr. Brian K Diefenderfer and Dr. Benjamin F Bowers on research projects.

From 2016 to the present, Justin has been working at the United States Space Force. Justin initially served as an Active Duty - Captain and is currently a Program Manager/Lead Systems Engineer. Justin has been involved in various modernization programs such as the Space Force Satellite Control Network and Spacelift Launch Ranges. Justin has also led the phased array antenna architecture modernization of AFSCN.

Prior to their current role, from 2016 to 2018, Justin worked at the United States Air Force as a Test Engineer, leading a 35-member test team in executing Integrated System Test programs for modernizing the GPS Enterprise. Justin also led operational testing of modernized GPS warfighting capabilities.

Justin Mayfield earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering, with a minor in Global Sustainability, from the University of Virginia. Justin also completed the Fundamentals of Acquisition Management program at the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology. Justin obtained various certifications, including Test & Evaluation Level 2, Acquisition Leadership Challenge Program Level 1, Program Manager Level 1, Science & Technology Manager Level 1, Systems Engineering Level 2, and Space Professional Level 1. Currently, they are pursuing a Master's degree in Public Management/Non-profit/Organizational Leadership from the University of Maryland's School of Public Policy, along with a Graduate Certificate in Public Sector Finance and Acquisitions.
