Najuma Thorpe

Najuma Thorpe, MA, MBA, serves as the Director of Communications and Stakeholder Engagement at United States Steel Corporation, leading crisis communications and fostering transparency during significant organizational changes. Additionally, Thorpe teaches undergraduate journalism and public relations courses at UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media and has experience managing corporate communications at Verizon, where responsibilities included media relations and strategic storytelling. Previous roles encompass leadership positions in communications for various organizations, including Ember Public Relations, N.C. League of Municipalities, and the DC Department of Housing and Community Development. Thorpe holds a BA in Journalism and Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an MBA in Marketing from Strayer University, and an MA in Organizational Communication from Bowie State University.
