Michael Chester has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Michael started their career as a General Manager at Insight Environmental in 1998, where they worked until 2001. Michael then moved on to Aurenda in 2002, taking on the role of Chief Operating Officer, which they held for 12 years. At Aurenda, they shared management responsibilities with the Managing Director and provided services to clients in various industries. In 2014, they joined Interchange WA as the Executive Operations Manager, overseeing a team of Senior Managers and frontline staff. Michael also served as the Acting Chief Executive Officer, leading the organization and representing it to the government. Since 2017, Michael has been working at Uniting WA, initially as the Chief Operating Officer and later as the Co-Chief Executive Officer. At Uniting WA, they provide leadership to the organization's teams and ensures the delivery of innovative and integrated services to communities in need.
Michael Chester holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry/Biotechnology from the University of Waterloo, which they obtained between 1984 and 1988. In 2000, they completed their MBA at The University of Western Australia. In 2013, they obtained a GAICD from the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Michael also attended the Cranlana Centre for Ethical Leadership in 2019, where they completed an Executive Colloquium. Additionally, they have obtained two certifications: "Measure What Matters (Blinkist Summary)" and "Organizational Culture," both from LinkedIn in 2020.
