Alastair Hodges

Chief Scientist at Universal Biosensors

Alastair Hodges is an accomplished scientist with extensive experience in electrochemistry and research. Currently serving as a Senior Consultant at Nutromics since June 2021, Alastair has also held the position of Chief Scientist at Universal Biosensors since April 2002, where responsibilities include overseeing the technical output of the company. As a founder of Universal Biosensors, Alastair aimed to leverage technology developed in the 1990s. Additionally, Alastair is the Director and Chief Scientist at H-Stor Pty Ltd, a startup dedicated to researching fuel cells, from August 2018 to March 2025. Previous experience includes a role as Principal Research Scientist at CSIRO from 1988 to 2005 and as part of the Aeronautical Research Laboratories at DSTO in early 1987. Alastair Hodges holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Electrochemistry from The University of Melbourne, earned between 1978 and 1987, and education at Scotch College Melbourne from 1968 to 1977.
