Niels Werner Hersmann

Niels Werner Hersmann is a Senior Designer at Universal Design Studio since August 2017, with a previous role as Designer in Residence at Atelier LUMA / LUMA Arles from June 2018 to December 2019. Extensive experience includes working as an Architectural Intern and Freelancer at Architecture Office Wiegand from 2008 to October 2016 and at Herzog & de Meuron from September 2014 to August 2015, contributing to projects such as the Urban Study for New York City and the Sydney Modern. Niels also freelanced for Nussbaum Advertising Agency between 2012 and 2015 and served as a Scientific Assistant at Burg Giebichenstein - University for Art and Design Halle, where responsibilities included teaching Rhino3D. Niels began professional training as a Trainee at Carpenters Workshop Kellner from October 2008 to August 2009. Academic qualifications include a Master’s degree in Architecture Part II from the Royal College of Art (2015-2017) and a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Architecture and Furniture Design from Burg Giebichenstein - Hochschule für Kunst und Design Halle (2009-2014).
