Spencer Meade has extensive experience in legal content protection and business affairs within the music industry. Currently, as the Director of Legal Content Protection at Universal Music Group since December 2015, Spencer oversees anti-piracy efforts relating to merchandise and evaluates content for fair use compliance. Previously held roles include Associate Director of Legal, Content Protection, and Paralegal, where duties encompassed drafting cease and desist letters and managing disputes on social media and e-commerce platforms. Spencer has also contributed as a Sports Headline Contributor for The Onion since April 2021. Earlier experience at Sony Music Entertainment involved reviewing contracts and conducting research on copyright ownership, while internships at Tuff City Records and other organizations provided foundational legal expertise. Spencer holds a law degree specializing in Intellectual Property Law from the Cardozo School of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management from the University of Minnesota.
