Icae Doug Akers

Doug Akers, ICAE has a rich and diverse work experience in the attractions and entertainment industry. Doug is currently serving as the Vice President of New Venture Operations at Universal Destinations & Experiences. Prior to this, they held the role of Vice President of Park Operations at Universal Beijing Theme Park & Resort for six years.

Before joining Universal, Doug was associated with Resorts World Sentosa for several years, where they held various director-level positions, including Director of Attractions Entry Operations, Director of Attractions Food & Beverage Department, Director of Business Development Attractions, and Director of Attractions.

Doug has also contributed to the industry by serving as the Show Ambassador Manager at Asian Attractions Expo - IAAPA. Additionally, they worked as the Manager of Attractions Operations at Hard Rock Park and completed an Operations Management Internship at SeaWorld.

Furthermore, they gained valuable experience working at Universal Orlando as an Operations Supervisor and at Busch Gardens as an Assistant Supervisor of Merchandise. Doug also served as the Student President of the FTPLA and was a member of the Rosen College Advisory Board.

Doug Akers, ICAE has a diverse education history. Doug completed a Study Abroad Attachment program in Tourism and Travel Services Management at MCI | The Entrepreneurial School. Doug also attended the IAAPA Institute of Attractions Managers in Paris, France for further professional development. In addition, they completed the IAAPA Executive Education program at San Diego State University.

Doug holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality Management with a concentration in Theme Park & Attractions from the University of Central Florida. Doug also pursued General Studies and Civil Engineering at the University of South Florida.

In terms of certifications, Doug obtained the Certified Attractions Executive and Certified Attractions Leader designations from the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA). Doug also completed the Techniques of Alcohol Management and Nevada Marijuana Compliance programs at TAM™ of Nevada.
