Aic William Degnan

William Degnan, AIC has extensive work experience in the insurance industry. William is currently serving as the Chief Claims Officer at Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Company, a position they have held since September 2022. Before that, they worked as the Vice President of Claims from September 2014 to September 2022, where they were responsible for overseeing the claims department. Prior to that, Degnan served as the Director of Claims from February 2013 to September 2014, reporting directly to the VP of Claims. In this role, they restructured and revitalized the claims operation, utilizing data-driven problem-solving and implementing a proprietary Claims Management Dashboard. Before becoming a director, Degnan worked as a National Claims Supervisor at Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Company, where they established policies, procedures, and relationships with regulatory agencies in newly approved states. William also procured adjusting service agreements with national claims vendors. Degnan's work experience also includes a role as a Claims Examiner from May 2011 to May 2012.

Outside of the insurance industry, Degnan has experience working at Florida Atlantic University. William served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant from January 2009 to December 2009 and also worked at the Center for Intermodal Transportation Safety and Security from September 2009 to September 2010. In this role, they performed traffic impact studies and developed a multi-criteria decision-making tool for emergency dispatch centers as part of a bioterrorist impact project sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security.

William Degnan, AIC completed their education with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Florida Atlantic University, from the year 2007 to 2008. William further pursued their studies and obtained a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the same university, from the year 2008 to 2010.
