Matthew Le Merle is the Chairman of the Universal Protocol Alliance, a consortium of leading blockchain organizations committed to bringing blockchain technology to mainstream adoption. Matthew is also a founding partner of Blockchain Coinvestors & Fifth Era, an early-stage venture fund focused on investing in blockchain and digital currency startups.

Le Merle has over 20 years of experience in the technology industry, including executive roles at ApplePie Capital, Keiretsu Forum, and Concept Art House. Matthew was also a managing partner at BitBull Capital, an early-stage crypto hedge fund, and Bitwise Asset Management, one of the largest cryptocurrency asset managers in the world.

Matthew C. Le Merle has a certificate in Blockchain Strategy from the Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford. Matthew also has short course certificates in Innovation in the Arts from the University of the Arts London and Fine and Studio Arts - Oil Painting from the University of the Arts London. In addition, they have an MBA from the Stanford Directors' Consortium at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and another MBA in Business Administration from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. Matthew also holds a MA in Geography (Double First, Open Scholarship) from the University of Oxford and a masters from Eltham College.
