Dave Cohen

Dave Cohen has an extensive work experience spanning over several companies and roles.

Dave started their career at Loctite as a Software Engineer in 1998 and worked there until 2001.

From 2001 to 2003, Dave worked as a Research Developer at Fraunhofer USA, focusing on research, design, and development work with the Experience Factory knowledge management model.

In 2003, they joined CA Technologies as a Software Engineer until 2005.

In 2005, Dave co-founded Price Protectr and served as the Chief Technology Officer. Price Protectr provided price monitoring services for consumer transactions from large retailers.

Simultaneously, from 2005 to 2011, they worked at Google in various roles. Dave started as a Senior Software Engineer at Gmail, contributing to the launch of Gmail Chat and developing features. Then, they became a Staff Software Engineer Technical Lead at Google+ Photos, leading the engineering team and working closely with design and product to redefine the social photos experience. Dave also worked on Google+ Events, leading a large distributed team and launching polished products under tight deadlines. Dave left Google in 2015 after working as a Technical Lead Manager on Google Photos Auto Awesome Movies, where they supported engineers in building video editing and creation experiences on Android and iOS.

From 2016 to 2022, Dave worked at Facebook, holding the position of Senior Engineering Manager. Dave led teams working on Messenger Visual Messaging, enabling users to express themselves through photos, videos, and expression tools. Dave also focused on building engaging augmented reality (AR) experiences across Messenger and Instagram video calling.

Currently, Dave is working as the VP of Engineering at Universal Tennis, where they are responsible for growing the sports of tennis and pickleball and connecting players globally through level-based play and innovative events. Dave leads in making the UTR Rating, the world's most accurate tennis rating system, relevant and valuable to players, coaches, and organizers in their local communities.

Dave Cohen attended the University of Maryland from 1998 to 2003, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Science.
