Michael Baum

Michael Baum is an accomplished academic and leader with extensive experience in the fields of political science and higher education. Currently serving as an Executive Board Member at the Luso-American Development Foundation since July 2021, Michael Baum contributes to deepening cooperation between Portugal and the USA. As a Professor Catedrático Convidado at Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Michael Baum directs the Global Education Office and co-directs the Philosophy, Politics & Economics undergraduate program. Previous roles include Program Director for the Study in Portugal Network and multiple faculty positions at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, where Michael Baum held titles such as Full Professor and Associate Professor & Chair. With an academic background that includes a Ph.D. in Comparative Politics from the University of Connecticut and significant involvement in facilitating academic partnerships, Michael Baum continues to play a pivotal role in promoting educational opportunities between the US and Portugal.
