Paripurna Poerwoko Sugarda

Vice Rector for Cooperation & Alumni at Universitas Gadjah Mada

Sugarda, Paripurna Poerwoko was officially inaugurated as the Vice Rector for Cooperation and Alumni of UGM for the period of 2017-2022 on July 28, 2017 after being at the same position in 2014-2017. In 2012-2014, he was appointed to be the Dean of Law Faculty of UGM. He is also a lecturer at the Business Law Department, in Faculty of Law, UGM. He earned his Master degree on International and Comparative Private Law (LL.M.) in University of Groningen, Netherlands and his Doctoral degree on Legal Science (Dr) in Faculty of Law, UGM, Indonesia. His passion in teaching encouraged him to deepen his knowledge by attending several international courses, such as Lesson for Asian Countries on Competition Law in Japan in 2007, Workshop on ASEAN Legal Systems and Regional Integration in 2001, Training on Commercial Law in the University of New South Wales, Sydney in 1998, and Research and Training on Economic Law in Harvard Law School, USA from January to July 1996. His active participation and contribution in the field of law is evident by his professional society membership which includes his position as Chief of Antitrust Law Department on Center of Intellectual Property Competition and Disputes Settlement Mechanism Studies (CICODs), Faculty of Law, UGM, Member of Investment Commission at Indonesian Investment Coordination Board (BKPM) in 2013 to 2015, Member of Academic Legal Drafters for the New Indonesian Contract Law, National Law Development Board (BPHN) in 2013 to 2014, and his position as Expert Member of Working Group on Contract Farming, UNIDROIT (International Institute for the Unification of Private Law) in 2013 to 2015. At present, he is appointed as one of the members of selection committee of the members of Indonesian Commission for the Supervision of Business Competition (KPPU).
