Njoki Wamai, PhD, serves as an Assistant Professor in Politics and International Relations at United States International University - Africa since October 2018 and also holds a position as a Visiting Professor at Universitat Jaume I. Wamai is an Iso-Lomso Research Fellow at the Stellenbosch Institute of Advanced Studies and was previously a Research Fellow at Wissenschaftkolleg zu Berlin. Wamai's research primarily focuses on the politics of justice in Kenya during transitional periods post-election violence. Wamai completed a PhD in Politics and International Studies at the University of Cambridge, where research emphasized citizen agency and the legitimacy of the International Criminal Court in Kenya. Additional academic credentials include a Master's degree from King's College London and a Post Graduate Diploma in Gender and Development from the University of Nairobi. Notable prior roles include serving as Chairperson for the 3rd International African Studies Association of Africa Conference and conducting research on women's participation in peace processes at the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue.
