Martijn Riool

Martijn Riool is a highly experienced academic and researcher specializing in experimental trauma surgery and material science. Currently serving as a Professor at University Hospital Regensburg and Director of the Laboratory for Experimental Trauma Surgery, Martijn is involved in various EU-funded projects, including the HyFiDress project focused on multifunctional hybrid hydrogel-fibrous constructs for wound dressings, and the STIMULUS project, which aims to develop stimuli-responsive materials for healthcare-associated infections. Additional projects include the development of antimicrobial coatings, biodegradable silica hydrogel composites, and innovative materials for cranial surgery. Martijn holds a PhD in Medicine and has a strong educational background in life sciences and biology from the University of Amsterdam.
