Jean-François Gaudreault-DesBiens

Jean-François Gaudreault-DesBiens is a constitutional lawyer, Jean-François Gaudreault-DesBiens is a professor at the Faculty of Law, where he was dean from 2015 to 2019 and holder of the Canada Research Chair in North American and Comparative Legal and Cultural Identities from 2006 to 2016. Before teaching at the University of Montreal, he was a professor at McGill and Toronto universities. In recognition of his contribution to the advancement of knowledge and the law, he was elected to the Royal Society of Canada in 2015 and named lawyer emeritus in 2013 by the Barreau du Québec.

Author of more than a hundred articles and several books published in various languages, Mr. Gaudreault-DesBiens is a member of the bars of Quebec and Ontario. From 2010 to 2014, he served on the executive committee of the International Association of Constitutional Law. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Max-Planck Institute for Social Anthropology, Halle, and of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Max-Planck Institute for Research on Multi-Religious and Multi-Ethnic Societies, Göttingen.
