James Lochner has extensive experience in education and public outreach within the field of space science. Currently serving as Director of University Relations at USRA since October 1991, James is responsible for communications and engagement with member universities involved in space science research. Previously, James held roles at NASA, including SMD E/PO Program Manager and E/PO Lead, where responsibility included administering grant programs, coordinating education activities, and developing advanced astronomy education materials. James's career began with research at Los Alamos National Laboratory, followed by various roles at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, contributing significantly to education and outreach initiatives. James earned a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Maryland and a B.S. in Astronomy from Villanova University.
