Burton Hayes has extensive experience in the field of medical informatics and clinical healthcare. Burton currently serves as the Chief Medical Information Officer at University Clinical Health since June 2021. Prior to this, they held various positions at Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare, including Chief Medical Informatics Officer, Internist and Pediatrician, Associate Chief Medical Informatics Officer, and Physician Informaticist. Burton was also an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and the University of Tennessee at Memphis & UT Medical Group. Additionally, Burton worked as a Hospitalist at Missouri Delta Medical Center and as an Internist and Pediatrician at Family Health Group. Their work experience spans across academic, clinical, and administrative roles in healthcare.

Burton Hayes began their education journey in 1986 at Hendrix College, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. Burton successfully completed their undergraduate studies in 1990. Following this, they enrolled at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, College of Medicine in the same year. Burton spent the next four years studying Medicine and ultimately earned their Medical Doctor degree in 1994.
