Heather Schopplein, PE, DBIA, CM-Lean, is a distinguished leader in the Design Build industry with nearly 20 years of experience. Currently serving as the Director of Pre-Construction Services at University Mechanical & Engineering Contractors, Inc. (CA) since April 2016, Heather oversees the preconstruction and estimating department, focusing on the execution of complex projects. Previous roles include Commercial Group Manager and Preconstruction Manager at UMEC, where responsibilities encompassed budgeting, value engineering, and scheduling for various design build projects. Heather's early career includes engineering positions at Haldeman Inc. and Bender Dean Engineering, along with project management, billing, and data entry roles at several organizations. Heather holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from UC Santa Barbara, earned between 2001 and 2005.
