Dan Osei Mensah Bonsu

Dan is a PhD Candidate at the Australian Centre for Ancient DNA (ACAD), The University of Adelaide (UoA), Australia. His research project investigates the interaction of trace DNA with metal and metal-coated surfaces and developing novel solutions for forensic analysis of these problematic evidential samples for serious crime, to ultimately lead to improved justice outcome. He has excellent and comprehensive training in forensic and investigative sciences. Dan holds an Erasmus Mundus MSc in Forensic Science (MFSc) and MSc degree in Biotechnology; both received with distinction. He obtained a BSc (Hons) degree in Human Biology from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana. He recently obtained a Professional Diploma in Criminal profiling & Crime Scene Analysis from the Forensic Criminology Institute in Sitka, Alaska, United States.

Dan has held very prestigious scholarships ranging from the Adelaide scholarship International, the Chartered Society of Forensic Science Research Scholarship, ANZFSS SA Branch Symposium Award, Bill Retalic Prize for Science and Justice, and the Erasmus Mundus Masters Scholarship.

Dan is currently a Member of the University of Adelaide Council, a Postgraduate Representative on the Faculty of Science Board, UoA and a Committee Member of ANZFSS SA Branch. He was the President for 2013 - 2015 cohort of the Erasmus Mundus MFSc, served as the Program Representative (PR) of same with the Erasmus Mundus Students & Alumni Association (EMA) and is the current Vice President of the Forensic Science Society of Ghana (FSSG).
