Richard Gerger

Richard Gerger, MSHA, CHFM, CHC, SASHE serves as the Assistant Vice President of Hospital Support & Maintenance at the University of Alabama at Birmingham since April 2020, overseeing operations of a large academic medical center and hospital-managed facilities totaling 6.6 million square feet. Prior experience includes serving as Senior Director of Facilities Management at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital, where Richard directed facility operations, construction, and safety for a 1.75 million square foot healthcare complex. Richard previously held the role of Director of Facilities/Safety Officer at UR Thompson Health, managing comprehensive facility operations. Early career experience includes roles at Sodexo as Assistant Director of Facilities and Mechanical Trades Manager, as well as Operations Manager for Roto-Rooter Plumbing and Drain Service. Richard holds a Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration from Roberts Wesleyan University and a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education/Sports Medicine from Canisius University.
