Building Safety And Security Systems Design Lead at University of Alberta

Matt Hurly's work experience begins in 2006 as an HVAC Technologist at Hemisphere Engineering. Matt then moved on to Brewsters Brewing Company, where they worked as a Shift Lead from 2006 to 2014. In 2010, Matt started their own business, HurlyWorks, as a Building Systems Consultant, Owner, and Director. Matt provided consulting services in security system and building control system development and delivery. From 2017 to 2019, they also worked on a contract basis at the University of Alberta in the Building Security System Shop. Finally, in 2019, Matt joined the University of Alberta as the Building Security Systems Shop Supervisor, responsible for overseeing technicians and locksmiths, system design, project coordination, and troubleshooting. In 2023 they were promoted to Building Safety and Security Systems Design Lead.

Matt Hurly's education history includes obtaining a Project Management Certificate from NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) in 2011 and studying HVAC at the same institution from 2005 to 2007. Matt also has additional certifications such as ASIS Member, Dare to Lead, ICT Protege GX - Level 1 Training, Commend Training - Basic, CPTED (Crime Prevention Thru Environmental Design) Level 1 & 2, and Lenel Core Certification.
