Helen Lau

Helen Lau currently serves as the Director of Business Engagement & Research Impact at the University of Birmingham since March 2024. Previously, Lau held the position of Associate Director of Knowledge Exchange at Coventry University, where responsibilities included managing the Knowledge Exchange Unit and overseeing various government-funded knowledge transfer programs. Additional roles at Coventry University included Business Development Officer, focusing on industry partnerships and research projects, and Project Manager, responsible for financial management and the development of new products in the healthcare sector. Lau has also contributed as a Non-Executive Director for Hope 4 The Community CIC, driving the organization’s innovative initiatives. Earlier experience includes serving as an IP Officer at Keele University, facilitating the commercialization of intellectual property and aiding in the formation of new spin-out companies. Lau holds a BEng Hons and MSc in Biomaterials Science Engineering and Medical Engineering from the University of Liverpool.
