Mia Hyun is a highly experienced professional in gender-based violence and gender equality with a diverse background in research, consulting, and policy advising. Currently a Doctoral Researcher at the University of Birmingham, Mia focuses on feminist comparative policy analysis in ASEAN, specifically evaluating government progress on gender-based violence policy reforms. Mia also serves as the Sector Lead for Gender-Based Violence at DT Global, advising on various related topics for the DFAT Gender Equality Branch. Previous roles include Senior Regional Gender and Inclusive Development Advisor for USAID, Gender-Based Violence Consultant for UNDP, and positions with Ernst & Young, USAID/Banyan Global, UNIDO, and the World Bank Group, where extensive work involved institutional assessments and capacity building efforts across multiple countries. Mia holds a PhD in International Development from the University of Birmingham, a Master's degree in Economics from Imperial College London, and an MBA in Public Sector Management from Boston University.
