Gillian Bowen

Trustee at University of Bristol

Gillian Bowen is a lay member of the Board of Trustees. She began her first term of office in January 2021.

Gillian is an experienced charity sector leader having worked in the sector for 20 years. She is currently a charity CEO, specialising in housing services for homeless young people and delivering a range of youth support and health services to vulnerable and at-risk youth. Gillian’s academic background includes a BA Theology (Hons); MA Youth and Community Work and an MBA.

Gillian is a Justice of the Peace (Adult and Youth Courts) and sits on the Board of other charities including Just Like Us (Empowering LGBT+ young people from the classroom to their careers) and LandAid Charitable Trust (The property industries charity working to end youth homelessness).

In recognition of her work within the third sector, community and youth leadership, Gillian was bestowed the Freedom on the City of London and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Westminster. Gillian is very proud of her Grenadian heritage and enjoys sport.
