Deena Shin McRae

Deena Shin McRae, MD, currently serves as the Associate Vice President for Academic Health Sciences at the University of California Office of the President, a position held since July 2022, overseeing one of the largest health sciences instructional programs in the nation. In addition, McRae has maintained various roles at the UCI School of Medicine since September 2011, including Interim Associate Vice President and Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, with responsibilities for graduate medical education accreditation and oversight of multiple residency and fellowship programs. Previous positions held include Staff Psychiatrist and Associate Chief of Staff for Education at the Long Beach Veterans Administration Medical Center, and psychiatry roles at several institutions. McRae earned an M.D. from UC Irvine School of Medicine and a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania.
