Barbara-Anne Boswell

Head, English Literary Studies at University of Cape Town

Barbara-Anne Boswell is currently the Head of English Literary Studies at University of Cape Town. Prior to that, they were a Project Officer for the Young Women's Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights Leadership Project at the African Gender Institute, University of Cape Town. Additionally, they have also taught courses on Theories, Politics, Action, The Politics of Gendered Knowledge Production, African Literature, and Contemporary Literature. Barbara-Anne Boswell has also worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Carter G. Woodson Institute for African-American and African Studies at University of Virginia and as a Lecturer at University of Maryland Baltimore County.

Dr. Barbara-Anne Boswell has a PhD in Women's Studies from the University of Maryland, an MPhil in Women's and Gender Studies from the University of the Western Cape, and a B. Tech. in Journalism from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.

Barbara-Anne Boswell reports to Mamokgethi Phakeng, Vice-Chancellor. They are on a team with Justus Ludolph Christiaan Swanvelder - Head of Anaesthesia, Rebekka Sandmeier - Head of South African College of Music, and Frederick Nicolls - Head of Electrical Engineering.
