Matthew Hess

Matthew Hess has extensive work experience in the field of engineering and systems administration. Matthew is currently employed as the Lead Systems Engineer at the University of Colorado, a position they started in February 2024. Prior to this role, Matthew worked for Comcast Cable as an Engineer 5 from December 2013 to December 2023. Matthew also served as a Senior Systems Administrator at Profitool, Inc. from October 2011 to November 2013. Matthew has prior experience as a Senior Architect at CenturyLink from May 2007 to October 2011 and as a Unix Support specialist at Avaya from January 2007 to April 2007. Before that, they worked as a Unix Administrator at Ooma from February 2006 to November 2006, where they were responsible for establishing Linux RedHat, CentOS, and Fedora Certification Node and performing C source code modifications. Prior to that, Matthew worked at LiveWire Networks as a Senior Network Engineer from November 2003 to December 2005, where they converted services and systems from Windows to OpenBSD and managed various operating systems. Earlier in their career, they served as a System Administrator at Interfold/Webconnects from November 2001 to September 2002 and as an AMTS at US West Communications from April 1998 to August 1999. At US West Communications, they administered the Express2000 tool for a year 2000 inventory project and maintained the web-based inventorying tool. Matthew has a proven track record of handling technical support, network configuration, server administration, and software development tasks across multiple organizations and industries.

Matthew Hess attended Homestead High School from 1992 to 1996, where they earned their Diploma. Afterward, from 1996 to 1998, they furthered their education at the University of Southern Indiana. Additionally, Matthew obtained the certification in "Developing Your Emotional Intelligence" from LinkedIn in 2023.
