Valerie Simons

Valerie Simons has over 20 years of work experience in various legal roles. Valerie is currently serving as the Chief Compliance Officer at the University of Colorado since November 2021. Prior to this, they worked at the University of Colorado Boulder as the Associate Vice Chancellor and Title IX Coordinator from July 2014 to March 2022. Before joining the university, Valerie was the Owner and Managing Member of Education Law Group of Colorado, LLC from November 2011 to June 2014. Valerie also worked as a Partner at Choquette & Simons LLP from August 2007 to October 2011. Valerie started their legal career as an Associate at Holland & Hart LLP from July 2003 to January 2006. Valerie gained experience as a Law Clerk for Chief Justice Michael Bender at the Colorado Supreme Court from 2002 to 2003. Prior to that, Valerie worked as a Trial Attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice from September 1998 to July 2002.

Valerie Simons has a Bachelor's degree in Political Economy from the University of California, Berkeley. Valerie also holds a Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree from Georgetown University Law Center.
