Teri Rizvi

Executive Director Of Communication Strategies at University of Dayton

Teri Rizvi has over 30 years of work experience in various communication and writing roles. Teri started their career as an editor/writer at Woolpert Consultants before moving on to become the public relations manager at Promised Valley Playhouse. Teri then became the managing editor at Utah Waterline/Construction Gazette and later worked as a publicist at Pioneer Memorial Theatre.

In 1987, Teri joined the University of Dayton as the director of media relations, where they managed the university's news bureau and secured media coverage at a regional and national level. Teri later became the associate vice president for university communications, leading a creative team in producing various publications and overseeing media relations. Teri served in this role until 2013, when they became the executive director of communication strategies. In this position, they advised on strategic communication issues and served as the lead writer for presidential communications.

In addition to their work at the University of Dayton, Teri is also the founder and director of the biennial Erma Bombeck Writers' Workshop, a nationally recognized event that attracts writers from around the country. Teri is also an author and editor, with works such as "One Heart with Courage: Essays and Stories", "Sisters! Bonded by Love and Laughter", and "Laugh Out Loud: 40 Women Humorists Celebrate Then and Now".

Teri Rizvi began their career as a researcher at ABC News and later worked as a business writer at McGraw-Hill World News and a wire service reporter at the Associated Press. Teri also has experience in student journalism, having served as the managing editor of Ohio University's daily student newspaper, The Post.

Teri Rizvi earned an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts from Sinclair Community College in 1978, followed by a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from Ohio University in 1980. Later, in 1988, they completed their M.A. in English from the University of Dayton.
