Albert Shields

Albert Shields is currently the Director of Business & Economic Development at the University of Delaware, a position held since August 2022. Prior experience includes roles as Deputy Chief of Staff - Policy and Policy Director in the Office of Governor John Carney from January 2017 to August 2022. Albert also served as Deputy State Director and Senior Press & Policy Advisor in the Office of Congressman John Carney from January 2011 to December 2016, where responsibilities included directing communications strategy and managing social media presence. Prior roles include Communications Director for John Carney for Congress in 2010 and Legislative Aide to the Speaker of the Delaware House of Representatives from January 2009 to July 2010. Albert holds a Master of Public Administration with specializations in State and Local Management and Political Communication and a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication/Media Studies, both from the University of Delaware.
