Kareem El Damanhoury

Kareem El Damanhoury, Ph.D., serves as the Director of the DU Prison Arts Initiative and is an Associate Professor of Multimedia Journalism, Digital Storytelling, and Media Studies at the University of Denver. With extensive experience in academia and media, Kareem has held various leadership roles including Graduate Director of the Media, Film & Journalism Studies Department and Director of the Public Diplomacy Graduate Certificate. As the founder and director of the award-winning student media platform DU Media, Kareem has achieved multiple prestigious awards. Previous roles include journalist and producer at CNN, postdoctoral research associate at Georgia State University, and assistant lecturer at Cairo University. Kareem's educational background includes a Ph.D. in Communication and Media Studies from Georgia State University and a Master's degree from Ohio University.
