Vice-Rector for Digitization & Scientific Infrastructure at University of Düsseldorf

Prof. Dr. Martin Mauve was born in Cologne in 1971. He studied business informatics at the University of Mannheim and at the Computer Science Institute (ICSI) at the University of California in Berkeley, USA. Mauve received his doctorate from the Chair for Practical Computer Science IV (computer networks and multimedia technology) at the University of Mannheim and received his habilitation at the same place with the topic "Algorithms and Protocols for Distributed Multimedia Systems".

Prof. Mauve has held the Chair for Computer Networks and Communication Systems at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf since 2003. From 2015 to 2019 he was Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf. His research interests include secure and robust distributed systems, computer-aided group work and the realization of participation using Internet technology. A particular focus is on the highly scalable support of discussion and decision-making.

Prof. Mauve has been a member of the board of directors of the Düsseldorf Institute for Internet and Democracy (DIID) since 2016, where he has also been head of the research college "Online Participation" since 2014. Within the framework of the DIID, he is interested in innovative concepts for dialog-based online participation processes and their technical implementation in functional systems.

Martin Mauve has been a member of the Advisory Board of the Center for Advanced Internet Studies (CAIS) since 2016. In 2018 he took over the co-lead of the Manchot research group "Decision making using methods of artificial intelligence".
