Luay al-Khatteeb is an accomplished energy policy expert currently serving as an Honorary Professor at the University of Exeter since November 2021. In addition, Luay holds the position of Distinguished Fellow at the Center on Global Energy Policy until April 2024. Previous experience includes serving as the Federal Minister and Member of the Energy Council for the Iraq Ministry of Electricity from October 2018 to May 2020, and as a Fellow at Columbia University’s Center on Global Energy Policy from February 2016 to September 2018. Luay founded and served as Executive Director of the Iraq Energy Institute from January 2008 to September 2018 and was a Nonresident Fellow at The Brookings Institution. Early career roles include Iraq Country Manager at Crescent Petroleum Company and Senior Advisor at Shell. Luay's academic credentials include a PhD in Middle East Politics and Energy Policies from the University of Exeter and a Master of Philosophy in Public Policies from The University of Salford.
